NORA success for Madgex Job Board Software clients

guardianjobs.co.uk has won a NORA for the second year running!

Guardian Jobs has retained the National Online Recruitment Award for the Best Online Recruitment Section by a Consumer Publication.  After last year's victory the Guardian Jobs team beat off competition from the Times and Telegraph for the second consecutive year to take the award.  The other shortlisted sites were jobsmine.co.uk and the Express and Star.

Nigel Bicknell, Head of Commercial Development at Guardian Jobs said:
"Winning this award for the second year running is a great feat - industry recognition of our constant efforts to balance the needs of jobseekers, who nominated us for this award, and advertisers, who continue to benefit from the high quality audience of jobseekers we offer. With over a million users on average every month this year, and extended reach through the 10 million UK uniques on the guardian.co.uk network, recruiters can be sure that guardianjobs.co.uk will continue to offer the widest audience and highest calibre of response possible."

William Reed owned Grocer Jobs was also successful, winning the aligning category of Best Online Recruitment Section by a Trade Publication.

Congratulations to both companies on their achievements.

Madgex speaking at VBUG conference

Today, our user experience consultant Dr. Harry Brignull is a key speaker at the eleventh VBUG Annual Developer Conference at Microsoft’s Head Office in Reading.

The VBUG conference is a community led event and features well known speakers from many community driven events. VBUG has established itself as a core event for the UK Microsoft developer audience and is trusted to provide the independent view on Microsoft’s developer technology offerings.

Harry is speaking about “Making The User Experience SHIFT in a .NET Development House” and will explain why user experience is relevant to developers as well as designers and how everyone can start to think more about the users. It is a topic close to Madgex’s heart as user experience is something we have concentrated on for some time now and an area of development that we worked hard to integrate within the company.

Madgex are Investors In People

We are proud to have been awarded the Investor in People (IiP) standard.

Investors in People recognises businesses that achieve success through their people.  Over 30,000 UK businesses hold the standard but it is not easy to achieve.

It took over a year of hard work; implementing team plans, creating a learning & development plan that supports every individual alongside the overall Madgex goals and putting robust performance management practices in place to make sure everyone is performing to their best and that they are totally happy and confident to do so.  All these efforts are just some elements of what the IiP standard requires.  Madgex staff were also interviewed at random as part of the assessment process to assess how they feel about the company and their professional future.

Hanna Smith, our HR Director said “It sounds really cliché, but at Madgex we truly do value our staff and realise that investing in them personally and professionally is the only way to succeed to be the best we can be!  Our Ideas & Learning Initiative is a good example where we support personal growth and development of our staff.  We give everyone at Madgex 15% of their working time back to spend on creative projects and/or personal development, it’s up to them what they do with the time.”  She went on to highlight “Our assessor was really impressed on what we had achieved and in some areas of the IiP framework we had exceeded the standard.  She was particularly complimentary about our unique culture and echoed what we all think – that it is a truly lovely place to work!”

We will be re-assessed within the next four years, to ensure that we still qualify to hold the IiP standard.

We are awarded for our game changing job board software

Madgex has been awarded a 2008 OnRec Game Changing Recruiting Technology Award.

The 2008 OnRec Global Online Recruiting Conference and Expo took place in Chicago on 9th & 10th September and this award was established to highlight the products, services and suppliers that are helping to accelerate productivity in the online recruiting process.

We are continually improving the Madgex Job Board Software, through user experience research and innovation programmes and quickly expanding as the demand for the software increases.  This award is the first time we have been recognised for our software in its own right despite plenty of Madgex clients winning awards for the success of their sites running on the platform.

“Madgex is clearly an innovator in the global online recruiting industry and a company to watch,” says RD Whitney CEO of OnRec USA.  “Our mission at OnRec is to percolate and highlight high potential recruiting technologies around the world.  Along with a constellation of outstanding peers, Madgex was recognized because their technology allows their customers to have a competitive advantage, and this designation solidifies their position in the rapidly evolving online recruiting marketplace.”

Rest assured, we did celebrate in the pub on Friday night!

New website for Grocerjobs

William Reed Business Media (WRBM) have announced the relaunch of Grocerjobs on our specialist platform.

The Grocer has offered a website solution to advertisers since September 1999, and has now reached a point where user experience is more important than ever.  There has never been a more competitive time for job boards to attract talent, and convert them into users and applications for advertisers.

The enhanced site delivers clear reporting for the advertiser, helping to track and monitor applications, plus a number of extra opportunities for employer branding.  And for the jobseeker, there is a new powerful search facility, which makes it quicker and easier to apply for roles.

There are also clear links to the brand new www.thegrocer.co.uk, offering news, forums and blogs as a community for professionals working in the food and drink industry.  Links to employers and jobs also feature on the content site, to attract more passive and active jobseekers to switch between the content and jobs.

It’s a significant step for WRBM, and shows continued investment into their digital products.  We are proud to have them join our portfolio.

Madgex creates open source OAuth .net library

Today we announced that we’ve created one of the first OAuth .net libraries available and we’ll be publishing all the code on Google Code.  The technology enables easy secure sharing of personal data around the web and as delegates at dConstruct 2008 heard this morning, we have chosen to open source the code for wider use.

OAuth is a simple way to publish and interact with protected data without sending user names or passwords across to third party sites.  OAuth libraries have already been developed for Java, PHP and Python amongst other coding languages, but now the increasingly large .net developer community can also benefit from the technology.

Here at Madgex we are continually researching and designing better experiences for jobseekers and recruiters and in doing so, we often explore areas where knowledge can be shared.  The research is broad, covering everything from social media interfaces to new search technologies.

“We want to share our ideas and code publicly as part of our wider support of the web development community” said Glenn Jones, Creative Director.
“The thing that really stuck in my mind when we started to investigate OAuth was the joy of the user experience.  With sometimes as little as two clicks I can share data between sites, which would otherwise take me ages to re-enter.  OAuth shines not because the technology is cool, but because it has the capability to fundamentally change the way people use the web.  It allows web users to easily share data between sites in ways we have not been able to achieve before.”

We have also launched lab.madgex.com, a site dedicated to the sharing of our ongoing research work inclusive of API demos.  It’s been created with the aim of helping web developers and social networks and we are hoping to be able to put additional applications live later in the year.

BrandRepublic Jobs Asia joins our portfolio

The latest site to launch on our Madgex Job Board Software platform is BrandRepublic Jobs Asia; a niche site for job seeking professionals in the marketing, media and PR sectors. Our client, Haymarket Media, are aiming for the site to replicate the success of its sister site in the UK and become the leading online marketplace for marketing and communications roles across Asia.

There was great enthusiasm for BrandRepublic Jobs UK, which receives nearly 80,000 unique users per month, so BrandRepublic Jobs Asia has been built based on the original but with additional new functionality for both users and recruiters, to make it even better. The launch of this site also aids us in our quest for international success.

Etienne Maccario, Online Publisher of BrandRepublic Jobs Asia said: “We considered several software development companies as partners and Madgex demonstrated capability and experience in building jobsites that gave us tremendous confidence in them as long term partners. Our experience to date has more than lived up to the sales pitch.”
